Kristen Rice

PT, DPT
Physical Therapist, Doctor of Physical Therapy

I grew up in a small town called West Fork, AR until about 18 years old. I then moved to Conway, AR to pursue my bachelor’s degree in athletic training at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA). Junior year of my undergrad studies, I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist as well. After two more summers of very dedicated studies, I applied to PT school at UCA, and began the program August 2019. Three years later, I graduated with my doctorate in physical therapy.

During my time in the PT program at UCA, I gained clinical experience in various settings including outpatient therapy, acute therapy, and inpatient rehab. Once I passed my board exam, I became a licensed therapist in the state of Arkansas. I currently work as a PT in an inpatient rehab in addition to providing PT services through Therapists In Motion. I am also certified in LSVT BIG, a program for individuals who have Parkinson’s Disease. I am planning to become a Certified Stroke Rehab Specialist in November of 2024.

The core values that are essential to my life include loyalty, responsibility, optimism, and integrity. I truly believe in doing the right thing and always staying positive when things get tough.

“Do or do not, there is no try.” – Yoda

This is one of my favorite quotes because I am obsessed with Star Wars, and I also think it is very motivating.

I am a physical therapist for Therapists In Motion. I perform evaluations of individuals with a disease, injury, or illness that is negatively affecting their life. I implement treatments including hands-on therapy and exercises to treat these issues.

Something that some patients may deal with is losing their independence with their mobility or losing their ability to participate in activities they enjoy. I work to fix this by empowering my patients and helping them regain their independence and confidence to get back to what they love, or simply get back to being able to stand and walk by themselves.

I most enjoy treating individuals who have been diagnosed with a stroke, but I also enjoy treating others who may have other neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s Disease. I primarily work with the geriatric population, and it is very rewarding.

I really enjoy visiting patients in their homes to work on tasks that are very specific to them because each person’s environment is different.
