LSVT BIG trains people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) to use their body more normally. People living with PD or other neurological conditions often move differently, with gestures and actions that become smaller and slower. They may have trouble with getting around, getting dressed and with other activities of daily living.
LSVT BIG effectively trains improved movements for any activity, from “small motor” tasks like buttoning a shirt to “large motor” tasks like getting up from a sofa or chair or maintaining balance while walking.
The treatment improves walking, self-care and other tasks by helping people “recalibrate” how they perceive their movements with what others actually see. It also teaches them how and when to apply extra effort to produce bigger motions – more like the movements of everyone around them.

It’s truly spectacular to witness an individual reach their final feeding/swallowing goals. Whether it’s an adult who is able to eat by mouth again after they required a feeding tube or an infant successfully taking a bottle for the first time, it is always such a miraculous experience. I feel like these individuals impact my life in such a positive way by trusting my knowledge and allowing me to be a part of such a life changing experience.
I became a speech language pathologist because a friend of mine worked in the field and always had such great things to say about the profession. She worked with children in the public schools and especially loved how the schedule was conducive to raising kids of her own. It wasn’t until graduate school that I realized I loved the medical field and I absolutely fell in love with neuro anatomy. I highly considered returning to school to become a neurologist, but decided to focus my career as a speech language pathologist on becoming highly specialized in areas of the field related to neurology and cranial nerve function.

I am committed to the highest quality of care that follows evidence based practice from evaluation to discharge. Working with a therapist dedicated to continuing their education and following evidence based practice can absolutely make the difference in the quality and accuracy of your care.
The medical field has been impacted by continued insurance and healthcare cost cuts for several years. It is important for me to keep in the forefront of my mind that the people I serve are individuals that deserve quality care no matter what their insurance coverage looks like. I just want to help people and truly be an advocate for them!

5 years experience in Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, patient/caregiver advocacy, adult/geriatric swallowing and swallowing disorders.
Being able to help patients who have not been able to eat by mouth a way to return to eating and drinking the foods and drinks they love safely.
My favorite uncle, Jesse, was born with an intellectual disability and we were very close as I was growing up. My earliest memories are of him and how much I wanted to help him and I was fortunate enough to have a close family friend who was an SLP. She encouraged me to pursue a degree in speech pathology.
Planting and caring for flowers and plants, traveling to the beach, nature, hiking, reading, spending time with family and friends poolside, and learning new things.

I wish that both patients and physicians in our area knew that there are therapists that have advanced training and knowledge, put their patients first, and base decisions on research backed information. There are therapists out there who have not prioritized obtaining high quality continuing education and who have not kept up with the vast changes and advancements in the field of medical speech pathology within the last 20 years, that are sadly affecting physician and patients opinions of SLPs negatively.. I have zero interest in just going through the motions and this company was founded on the belief that there has to be a way to do the right thing for patients while sustaining a profitable business.
